QECAR
QECAR (Queensland Ecological Augmented Reality) is a side project that operates alongside STEMVision to further investigate the use of technology to improve the user experience for younger audiences in a museum setting, enhancing their learning.
In the case of this project, the Queensland Museum's Wild State exhibition was selected, however due to to the nature of the work, any technology based modification to the user journey had to be non-invasive - having absolutely no impact on the museum experience for people who simply want to look at the exhibits through the glass. With the research and knowledge that I developed in the STEMVision project, I approached this project from a similar angle, however with a more general focus on AR as a multi-platform learning tool, able to be deployed on devices such as mobile phones and tablets. The QECAR experience uses AR to superimpose text on the otherwise bare glass display cases within the museum, to bring the difficult-to-read information to life and create a much more pleasant user experience.
This was a solo side project that I conducted on my own, including research, AR development, filming, post production and presentation of my work to colleagues and teaching staff at my university.
